1. Mandatory
substitutions will be made at the mid-point of each quarter. Quarter will be 10
minutes each. The clock will run continuously except in the last 30 seconds of
each quarter and last minute of the game.
2. Copies of
rotation sheets will be turned in to the score keeper and the opposing coach
before the game. (By the end of the 1st 5 minute period at the
latest)
3. If the
rotation sheet is not followed and the coach has not notified the score keeper
of a change, a technical foul will be assessed and the line-up will be adjusted
immediately. This is an administrative technical foul, not for attitude.
4. There
will be no free substitutions during the game except for the appointed
substitution timeouts, foul trouble, and for injury.
Foul trouble is defined
as 3 fouls in the 1st half and 4 fouls in the 2nd half.
5. A
man-to-man defense will be employed during the game. The only time that
double-teams are permitted is when a player is advancing toward the basket where
help defense is needed. Double-teaming is also permitted in the lane area.
6. Illegal
defense will be defined as a man playing an area of the court rather than paying
attention to a specific offensive player. Illegal defense calls will also
include double-teams. This will be a judgement call by the official. One
warning per half will be allowed on each team. Any additional infractions will
result in a technical foul.
7. The
defense will not extend beyond the half court line. In the boys blue and girls
gray divisions, the defenses must not play defense on the ball until it passes
the gray line beyond half court. Once it passes that gray line, the defense may
then play defense up to the mid-court line. This allows the offense to initiate
their offense. Back-court defense
will be defined as a defender playing defense beyond the half court line (Or
gray line in the boys blue & girls gray). This would consist of playing a
particular defense or attempting to intercept a pass. There will be one warning
per team per half. Any additional infractions will result in a technical foul.
Any player who may take a defensive stance but quickly realizes that they are in
error and ceases the defense should not be called for back court defense.
8. A full court man to man
defense can be employed the last 2 minutes of game. If a team is winning by more than 10
points, they will not press (full court) in the last 2 minutes. There should be
no double-teaming on the press.
9. A
technical foul will be 2 shots and the ball.
10. The
mid-court line will be the "10 second" as well as the "over and back" line.
11. Standard
rules of basketball will apply.
12. There
should be no double teaming unless a player is driving to the basket. A second
player can give assistance but when the ball is picked up, must return to their
own player. A continued double team will result in a warning and then a
technical foul. Double teaming is permitted in the lane area.
13. Basket height shall be at 10 ft. for boy's
Red, White, & girl's Scarlet divisions and 9 ft. for boy's Blue and girl's Gray
divisions.
14. 28.5"
size balls will be used.
15. A player
will be disqualified after 5 personal fouls. Any technical fouls will be
counted as a personal foul. Any player receiving a technical foul will be
subbed out immediately.
16. On the
7th team foul of the half, a 1 and 1 will result. On the
10th team foul of the half, 2 shots will be
awarded.
17. The blue
and gray division players are permitted to jump across the foul line on free
throws but must not continue for the rebound.
18. Coaches
should have subs ready at the appointed times. Our schedule is very tight this
year. Substitution timeouts will be no
more than 20 seconds.
19. Each team will be given 3 full timeouts per
game.
20. Each
player shall play no less than half of the game and no more than 1 extra period
than any player present.
21. If the score is tied at the end of regulation, that game
shall be declared a tie. There will be no
overtime period.
