First Friends Sports Ministry is moving in a different direction for boys age 14 and under by April 30, 2018. Boys age 15 are invited to join our Men’s Softball League. Instead of a three team in-house league like in past season, we will be putting together 1 or 2 14U (boys under the age of 14, by April 30) travel level teams to compete in the Sandlot division of the Stark Summit Baseball League. |Registration||Registration required for Try Outs. Register online (no fee) or please click on the link on the "Important Information" tab to download and print out the Try Out Registration form and return to the Sports Office by Friday, Sept 1 at 3pm. After that date and time, please complete form and bring to Try Out's and give to Nick Campanelli or Mike Manoff. Space is limited, please don't delay in registering. No fee for trying out.|

The 2018 season begins in April and ends beginning of July.
–Age Requirement MUST BE AGE 14 OR UNDER ON/BEFORE APRIL 30, 2018.
–Tryouts: Please attend tryouts: Tryout will be on Saturday, Sept 2 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm (Please plan to arrive 10-15 min early for check in). Tryouts will be on the Baseball field at First Friends Church, weather permitting. Please bring cleats, baseball glove, cap and a shirt with your name or a number on back, if possible. If weather is inclement or if field conditions are poor, please check our website for any announcements, cancellations, or re-scheduling. Register online (no fee) or download and print out Try Out registration form and turn in to Sports Office prior to Sept 2. If unable to register by Friday, Sept 1 at 3pm, please print out registration form and take completed form to the try-outs and give to Coach Mike Manoff or Program Director, Nick Campanelli. Limited spaces available.
–Team Selection: This team (or teams) is selected by tryout (not everyone will make a team as in past years). The decision to take players is solely up to the coach(es) and his analysis of the needs of the team(s) he will be managing. All decisions are final.
–League Information: The Stark Summit Baseball Leagues serves youth baseball and teams of all ages in Stark, Summit and Portage Counties. This league is divided into several tiers or divisions of competition ranging from highly competitive to intermediate competition. This season we will participate as a member of the Sandlot division, the entry level program into the SSBL. Though entry level, this division is still competitive and we will have competitive expectations for our team(s) and their players. More information is available at their website at www.ssbl1.com.
–Mandatory Parents’ Meeting: A Parent Meeting day and time will be established by your head coach once you have received word that your son made the team.
–Practice/Game Days: More information will be made available regarding practices at a later date. Will have practices starting in fall two nights a week. Next spring teams will have practices and/or games on three days each week. We will try to keep practices/home games consistent on Mondays, Thursday and Saturdays, but away games and rescheduled practices may fall on other days of the week. Practices will range from an hour and a half to two hours in length.
–Game Information: Teams will play 16+ regular season games plus two tournaments (one of them being the end-of-season Sandlot Division State Tournament. We will know more details on games after the April SSBL Scheduling Meeting. The game schedule reflects all of our regular season league-affilliated games. On occasion, we may incorporate scrimmages not listed on game schedule.
–Location of Practices: First Friends Church and possible alternate locations nearby if practices need rescheduled/field conditions are poor.
–Home Field for Games: First Friends Church
–Uniform Package: Players will receive their uniform kits which are already included in their registration fee. This uniform kit will include a home and away jersey, pants and a team hat. Parents will be responsible for providing a glove, a pair of cleats and getting their players to and from games and practices..
–Equipment Needed: Baseball glove and baseball cleats (no metal cleats) need to be purchased by each player.
–Festival Date: Date & Time TBA First Friends will provide pizza and soda/water for everyone. If you would like to bring a side or dessert, that would be appreciated.
