The First Friends Sports Jr. High League is designed for boys in grades 7-8 who have had some experience playing basketball and are looking for fun and fellowship at the community level. This league is geared toward developing teamwork skills in addition to individual playing skills. For this league, intermediate basketballs (28.5) are used, and the hoop is raised to 10 feet.
This league runs from January to March each year. There will be a short devotional time where we share biblical principles with the players and encourage them to pursue a life with Christ every week.
|Registration||Registration for the 2020 league will be available online and in the church brochure racks on November 4. They will be accepted in the Sports Office until league fills up or until 1 week prior to start of league, whichever occurs first. Church offices will be closed December 24 - January 1. Office hours are Mon-Fri 9am-4:30pm.|
|Fees||$55 Registration Fee
$20 Jersey Fee - (First Friends Sports jersey required, (black/red) please plan to purchase one, if you don't already have one.)
($5.00 fee retained for any refund requests) No refund will be given to any player who withdraws on or after the first week of games. An exception may be granted at the discretion of the staff due to medical reasons only. Further, no refund will be given to any player removed from the league during the course of the season for disciplinary reasons.

League starts in January Skill Assessments: Thursday, Jan 9 at 5 or 6pm. Schedule will be posted on website by Tuesday, Jan 7. 2nd Assessment: Saturday, Jan 11 at 2:30pm or 3:30pm (corrected times from earlier posting). Specific schedule will be posted on website Jan 10 after 1st assessment. Assessments are for everyone in league. Please attend both assessments, if you do not attend at least one assessment, you are not guaranteed a spot in the league. Please call the Sports office (330-966-6868) if something happens that prevents your child from attending one or both of the assessments. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early to get checked in. Please wear jersey or shirt with a name or number on back for skill assessments and scrimmage. You will be receiving your new jersey before 1st game.
Mandatory Parents Meeting: Same time as Skill Assessments. Requests can be made at the parent’s meeting and on registration form, however, they are not guaranteed. **Disclaimer: Please note that fairness and positive competition are a high priority in our program. Thus, our league leadership reserves the right to alter team rosters/move players once scrimmages have been played in order to balance teams if necessary. Practice Days: – One day a week on Thursdays Times at 5 or 6pm. Game Days: One day a week on Saturdays late afternoon at 2:30pm or 3:30pm (correction from earlier posting of game times). COACHES NEEDED! Please indicate on registration form you would like to coach or assist coach and plan to attend assessments and Coaches Training Meeting Thursday, Jan 9 at 7pm (after assessments).
Celebration Day Activities: Thursday, March 5 after games in the gym, held in rooms L1,2,3.
